
Debre Damo Monastery
‘Debre Damo’ Monastery – 6th century Monastery as high as 2200M above Sea Level One of the most eye-catching views in the North parts of Ethiopia is at the top of this 6th century monastery named for Abune Aregawi. It is accessible only by leather rope and dragging up about 15 Meters high. Located North of Adigart, en route from Axum to Mekelle This is one of the few church that has kept its original shape until now, never affected by the different vandalizing threats. It houses different old manuscripts from that time. It is only Men allowed church, but Women can still enjoy the surrounding views at the base of the church.
