Adadi Mariam Church & Tiya Staele (archeological Site)
Adadi Mariam rock hewn church is a type of rock-hewn cave church excavated in wards from a more or less vertical cliff. It is also partially separated from the main rock with various degrees of attachment to the rock. It is believed to be true that King Lalibela paid a visit and/or involve in the excavation which is why it resembles those remarkable churches in the north. It is a perfect one day excursion from Addis Ababa, including a brief stop at the Melka Kuntre pre-historic archeological site and UNESCO inscribed Tiya staele which is 84Km far from the capital.
